Drop Personality And Ego

Why is it so hard to drop personality and ego? I suppose it is because that is how we came to know ourselves. But if our desire is to know God and understand our relationship to the Divine, then we have to let them go. It’s a new way to know ourselves, one with rewards beyond our imagination.
